How to Apply for a Birth Certificate Online in Kenya

Step 1: Log In to eCitizen

  1. Visit www.ecitizen.go.ke.
  2. Log in using your eCitizen credentials. If you don’t have an account, create one by entering your ID number, full name, and phone number.

Step 2: Access Civil Registration Services

  1. Once logged in, select Civil Registration Services from the list of government services.
  2. Choose the option Apply for a Birth Certificate.

Step 3: Fill Out the Application Form

  1. Enter the details of the person for whom the birth certificate is being applied:
    • Name
    • Date and place of birth
    • Gender
    • Parent details (name, ID numbers, and nationality)
  2. Attach scanned copies of supporting documents, such as:
    • Notification of birth (from the hospital or clinic where the child was born).
    • Copies of the parents' ID cards.
    • A copy of the child’s immunization card, if applicable.

Step 4: Pay the Application Fee

  1. The standard fee for a birth certificate application is KSh 150.
  2. Choose your preferred payment method:
