How to Apply for a Kenyan Passport as a Foreigner

If you are a foreigner looking to obtain a Kenyan passport, you will need to apply for an Alien Passport. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to apply:

Step 1: Understand the Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for a Kenyan passport as a foreigner, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • You must be a legal resident or citizen of Kenya by birth or naturalization.
  • If you are applying for an Alien Passport, you must have the relevant work permit or residence status.

Step 2: Gather the Required Documents

To begin the application process, gather the following necessary documents:

  • Valid Passport from your home country.
  • Proof of Kenyan citizenship or legal status (e.g., Alien Certificate, Work Permit, Residence Permit, or Kenyan Birth Certificate).
  • Passport-sized photographs (ensure they meet the required specifications).
  • Police Clearance Certificate from your country of residence (if required).
  • KRA PIN (for foreigners applying for work permits or resident status in Kenya).
  • Any other documents specified by the Kenyan authorities, depending on your status.

Step 3: Visit the eCitizen Portal

  1. Go to the eCitizen website.
  2. Log in or create an account if you don’t already have one.

Step 4: Choose the Passport Application Service
