How to replace a lost KCPE or KCSE certificate in Kenya
Losing your KCSE certificate can be stressful, but you can apply for a Certification Letter from the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) as a replacement. Here’s how to go about it:
Step 1: Register on KNEC's Online Portal
- Visit KNEC Portal.
- Register an account and check your email for login credentials.
- Log in and select the "Lost Certificate" option.
Step 2: Fill in Required Information
Provide the following details:
- Index number
- Type of exam
- Year of exam
Step 3: Upload Required Documents
Ensure you have the following:
- Copy of your lost certificate or result slip
- Both sides of your National ID Card
- Passport-size photo
- Police abstract for the lost certificate
- Confirmation letter from the Registrar of Persons
Step 4: Prepare an Affidavit of Loss
Visit a Commissioner for Oaths or Notary Public to swear an affidavit containing:
- Your full name, address, and ID details
- Confirmation that you were the rightful owner of the certificate
- A statement declaring the certificate is lost and not disposed of
- Assurance against false statements
