How to replace a lost KCPE or KCSE certificate in Kenya

Losing your KCSE certificate can be stressful, but you can apply for a Certification Letter from the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) as a replacement. Here’s how to go about it:

Step 1: Register on KNEC's Online Portal

  1. Visit KNEC Portal.
  2. Register an account and check your email for login credentials.
  3. Log in and select the "Lost Certificate" option.

Step 2: Fill in Required Information

Provide the following details:

  • Index number
  • Type of exam
  • Year of exam

Step 3: Upload Required Documents

Ensure you have the following:

  • Copy of your lost certificate or result slip
  • Both sides of your National ID Card
  • Passport-size photo
  • Police abstract for the lost certificate
  • Confirmation letter from the Registrar of Persons

Step 4: Prepare an Affidavit of Loss

Visit a Commissioner for Oaths or Notary Public to swear an affidavit containing:
