How to Update Your Details on a Kenyan Passport
If you need to update your personal details on your Kenyan passport, whether due to changes in name, marital status, or other details, the process is straightforward. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to update your details:
Step 1: Visit the eCitizen Website
To begin the update process, go to the official eCitizen portal.
Step 2: Log in to Your eCitizen Account
- Enter your username and password to log in to your eCitizen account.
- If you don’t have an account, you can create one by following the prompts on the website.
Step 3: Navigate to the Passport Application Section
- Once logged in, go to Department of Immigration Services under the My Services tab.
- Click on Passport Application.
Step 4: Choose the Update Option
- In the passport application section, select the option to Update Passport Details.
- You will be asked to provide the reason for the update (e.g., name change, marital status, etc.).
Step 5: Fill in the Update Form
Provide the necessary details and fill in the form with:
- Your personal information (name, ID number, passport number, etc.).
- Details you wish to update (e.g., change of name, new address, etc.).
Step 6: Upload Supporting Documents
You will need to upload the following supporting documents:
- Proof of the update (e.g., marriage certificate, legal name change certificate, etc.).
- Original and current passport (to show the existing details).

On the appointment day, bring the following documents:

Your updated passport will be processed once the biometrics are captured. The processing time typically takes 3-5 working days.
Step 11: Collect Your Updated Passport
Once your updated passport is ready, you will receive a notification via SMS or email. You can then visit the designated collection centre to pick up your updated passport.
